    Estrategias para mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento del VIH en población adulta revisión narrativa 2013-2017.

    Introduction: HIV Infection has been historically a chronic condition, with a high impact in morbimortality, and with a chronic requirement for a specific pharmacologic management, which aims to improve lifespan and quality of life of the people suffering it. However, several factors decrease the adherence and maintenance of management, specially the adverse effects of the pharmacologic therapy and the social stigma of taking it. Materials and Methods: We have made a wide research through many databases, focusing on clinical trials that propound and evaluate strategies for the improvement of ART adherence. Several research criteria were used for the primary identification of possible studies. Then, after a complex process of exclusion and evaluation through quality criteria scores, we finally meet the number of 5 studies we took under consideration. Results: Two kinds of main strategies were found within the articles. The first focused on the inclusion of technology and mobile cell-phones, and the use of messages and calls-reminders for medication administration and clinical appointments. The second one, reviewed the traditional strategies of counselling, support groups and motivational therapies, as like as the evaluation of home vs clinical care approaches. Many of these findings were statistically significant, while the other ones, despite lacking this statistical significance, provided relevant clinical information useful for further studies or management recommendations. Discussion: The present revision offers important clinical and epidemiological advice, and recognizes the viability of new methods for improving adherence on ART, which brings us a brand new perspective of the overall HIV-infection management.
