Palliative Care is one of the most recent branches of medicine, whose purpose is focused on providing a better quality of life to those people with progressive, incurable, irreversible and highly limiting clinical conditions. Its beginning dates back to the sixties, later its arrival in Colombia is evident 20 years later, with the founding of the first clinic in Medellín. Since then it has been evolving with the approval of regulations that govern its proper actions. It is clear that worldwide, the percentage of access to the Palliative Care service by those who deserve it is very low or not existent, which is why the World Health Organization has taken the lead in this situation, trying to strengthen the training and promotion of awareness about this area. Different universities have been promoting teaching based on ethical principles, assertive communication and the participation of an interdisciplinary team that guarantees optimal quality service. Despite this, challenges still persist in the implementation and access to these services, evident in the centralization of centers trained to offer a palliative care program. This study pretends to determine in a group of medical professionals who are completing their residency in pediatrics in Bogotá D.C., their perception of knowledge surrounding palliative care and its biopsychosocial approach, thus managing an appropriate physical, emotional/psychological, religious and social approach, where the patient and his family intervene, always respecting their rights.
