El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo realizar un Plan de Manejo Ambiental de las actividades realizadas en la explotación minera, de la mina de esmeraldas “Gavilanes” establecida en el municipio de Chivor, Boyacá con el fin de identificar las problemáticas e impactos ambientales (ecológico, social y económico), a través de la matriz de Leopold, Vicente Conesa, Avellaneda, entrevista estructurada, Especificaciones Técnicas del Estudio de Impacto Ambiental y del Plan de Manejo Ambiental (numerales del 7 al 9) del Ministerio de Ambiente, programas de manejo ambiental donde se obtuvo como resultados que los impactos más significativos son contaminación al recurso hídrico, contaminación del suelo y pérdida de cobertura vegetal por las actividades de explotación minera, bombeo de clavadas y desagüe de agua, inadecuada disposición de los residuos estériles, adicional a esto se realizaron tres planes de manejo ambiental para aquellos impactos de mayor importancia, donde se establecieron un manejo para aguas residuales producto de la industria minera, manejo de residuos estériles, para su adecuada disposición y reforestación o reubicación de especies nativas. Para concluir la mina debe comenzar a realizar el diagnóstico ambiental, estudio de impacto ambiental y aplicar los distintos planes y programas que requiere la
mina de esmeraldas “Gavilanes”.

Abstract
Currently, mining in Colombia is one of the main engines for the economy; Within this, the mining of emeralds stands out, in the world it has been carried out and with greater force in a traditional way in different countries that exploit gems. The objective of this research work is to carry out an Environmental Management Plan of the activities carried out in the mining exploitation of the “Gavilanes” emerald mine established in the municipality of Chivor, Boyacá in order to identify environmental problems and impacts ( ecological, social and economic), through the matrix of Leopold, Vicente Conesa, Avellaneda, structured interview, Technical Specifications of the Environmental Impact Study and Environmental Management Plan (numbers 7 to 9) of the Ministry of the Environment, environmental management where it was obtained as results that the most significant impacts are contamination to the water resource, soil contamination and loss of vegetation cover due to mining activities, pumping of dives and water drainage, inadequate disposal of sterile waste, in addition to This was carried out three plans of environmental management for those impacts of greater importance, where it is established a management for wastewater product of the mining industry, sterile waste management, for its proper disposal and reforestation or relocation of native species. To conclude, the mine must begin to carry out the environmental diagnosis, environmental impact study and apply the different plans and programs required by the “Gavilanes” emerald mine.
