Hospital waste management plans are a fundamental part of the management that a hospital must carry out in favor of the environment and human health. Poorly managed hospital waste generates a potential risk for all personnel involved with it, from the physician to the collector who carries out the final disposal. The plans should be evaluated and monitored by the institution itself and by the entity responsible for the surveillance and control of these institutions. In Bogota, the District Secretary of Health is in charge of this task. In order to evaluate and analyze the management plans and indicators, checklists were implemented to verify whether or not the generating entities are complying with the regulations governing the management of hospital waste. For this work, the sample was taken from the hospitals of the network attached to the District Secretary of Health (ESE)1. It is clear that health care providers are not complying with the regulations because only 29.8% of the total number of providers that generate hazardous waste have sent their hospital waste management plan (PGIRH) to the Secretary of Health or have been verified during visits by the SDS2. This means that the SDS must implement a monitoring and control system, the objective of which is based on guiding the providers so that they can correctly prepare their management.

Abstract
Los planes de gestión de residuos hospitalarios conforman una parte fundamental en la gestión que debe realizar un hospital en pro del medio ambiente y de la salud del ser humano. Los residuos hospitalarios mal manejados generan un riego potencial para todo el personal involucrado con ellos, partiendo del medico hasta el recolector que realiza la disposición final. Los planes deben ser evaluados y monitoreados por la misma institución y por la entidad a quien le compete la vigilancia y control de estas instituciones. Para Bogota la Secretaria Distrital de Salud es la encargada de esta tarea. Con el fin de evaluar y analizar los planes e indicadores de gestión, se implementaron listas de chequeo en donde se verifica si las entidades generadores están o no están cumpliendo con la normatividad que regula el manejo de residuos hospitalarios. Para este trabajo se tomo como muestra los Hospitales de la Red Adscrita a la Secretaria Distrital de Salud (ESE)1. Es claro que los prestadores de salud no están cumpliendo con la normatividad debido a que tan solo un 29,8% del total de prestadores generadores de residuos de carácter peligroso ha enviado a la Secretaria de Salud el plan de gestión de residuos hospitalarios (PGIRH) o ha sido verificado en las visitas por parte de la SDS2. Lo cual determina que la SDS debe implementar un sistema de vigilancia y control, cuyo objetivo se base en guiar a los prestadores para que elaboren de manera correcta su gestión.
