dc.description.abstractLa coinfección de VIH y hepatitis viral B tiene un impacto significativo en la historia natural de la hepatitis B con mayor progresión a cirrosis y enfermedad hepática terminal. Se estima que actualmente en el mundo hay treinta y seis millones de personas infectadas con VIH y de estos, aproximadamente cuatro millones tienen hepatitis crónica B, por lo tanto es importante tener adecuadas alternativas terapéuticas. En el 2001, el análisis de la cohorte del estudio multicéntrico de SIDA demostró claramente el incremento de la mortalidad hepática encontrada en los pacientes coinfectados por VIH/VHB. La infección por el HIV afecta de manera negativa el curso de la hepatitis B. Es mayor el riesgo de desarrollar hepatitis crónica después de un cuadro de hepatitis B aguda, son menores las probabilidades de eliminar el HBeAg, los niveles de HBV-DNA suelen ser más elevados, hay una progresión más rápida del daño hepático y la mortalidad por enfermedad hepática es mayor que en los monoinfectados por HBV.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishCoinfection of HIV and viral hepatitis B has a significant impact on the natural history of hepatitis B with further progression to cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. It is estimated that there are currently thirty-six million people infected with HIV in the world and of these, approximately four million have chronic hepatitis B, therefore it is important to have adequate therapeutic alternatives. In 2001, the analysis of the study cohort AIDS multicenter clearly demonstrated the increase in liver mortality found in patients coinfected with HIV / HBV. HIV infection negatively affects the course of hepatitis B.
