dc.description.abstractEste documento describe un estudio cualitativo basado en 13 entrevistas a profundidad realizado con el objetivo de llevar a cabo un acercamiento a las mujeres con cáncer, provenientes de varias regiones de Colombia, que son acogidas por un albergue en Bogotá durante su estadía con motivo de sus tratamientos en el Instituto Nacional de Cancerología (INC), para conocer sus circunstancias y las necesidades de cuidado de enfermería. Las edades de estas mujeres están entre los 33 y los 70 años y pertenecen el régimen subsidiado, siendo la gran mayoría personas que realizan trabajo remunerado. Diez de ellas conviven con sus parejas y son madres mientras tres son solteras y no tienen pareja. Si bien se trata de un grupo diverso en lo referente a sus diagnósticos, 5 de las mujeres viven con cáncer de mama además de que 8 de las 13 tienen un cáncer de tipo ginecológico. Entre los hallazgos más relevantes, se observó que en 4 de los casos se relatan situaciones que llevan a establecer que el diagnóstico fue tardío. Para todas las entrevistadas, su enfrentamiento del dictamen de cáncer ha sido difícil por cuanto lo han asociado a la posibilidad de morir y de dejar abandonadas sus familias, pero luego ha sobrevenido una etapa de aceptación de su realidad de salud y de afrontamiento.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThis document describes a qualitative study based on 13 in-depth interviews carried out with the objective of approaching women with cancer, coming from various regions of Colombia, who are hosted by a shelter in Bogota during their stay for treatment at the National Cancer Institute (INC), in order to learn about their circumstances and nursing care needs. These women are between 33 and 70 years of age and belong to the subsidized regime, the vast majority of them being people who are gainfully employed. Ten of them live with their partners and are mothers, while three are single and have no partner. Although this is a diverse group in terms of their diagnoses, 5 of the women live with breast cancer and 8 of the 13 have a gynecological type of cancer. Among the most relevant findings, it was observed that 4 of the cases reported situations that lead to the conclusion that the diagnosis was late. For all the interviewed women, their confrontation with the cancer diagnosis has been difficult because they have associated it with the possibility of dying and leaving their families behind, but then came a stage of acceptance of their health reality and coping with it.eng
