dc.description.abstractLos mayas son una de las civilizaciones milenarias más peculiares y representativas de América. Han legado su patrimonio cultural de la época prehispánica, así como sus expresiones artísticas, sin embargo, sus representaciones escénicas solo son conocidas por la tradición oral y algunas fracciones que sobrevivieron a la conquista española. Debido a la falta de información sobre el teatro maya, este ha sido relegado por la escuela teatral latinoamericana, y, en consecuencia, se han descartado las técnicas usadas por estos nativos mesoamericanos quienes, por medio de su ideología y religión, crearon grandes espectáculos a partir de una estrecha relación entre rito, entretenimiento y enseñanza. El teatro maya era bastante elaborado, pues incluyó grandes y coloridos vestuarios, a veces con características zoomorfas, máscaras, muñecos similares a lo que hoy en día conocemos como títeres, música de tambores y flautas, cantos, entre otros. No obstante, aún es posible contar con algunas muestras de teatro indígenas, las cuales se descubrirán gradualmente a través de este pequeño recorrido sobre el teatro maya.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThe Mayans are one of the most peculiar and representative ancient civilizations in America, they have bequeathed their cultural heritage from the pre-Hispanic era, as well as their artistic expressions, however, their scenic representations are only known by oral tradition and some fractions that survived to the Spanish conquest. Due to the lack of information about the Mayan theatre, this has been omitted by the Latin American theatre school, the techniques used by these Mesoamerican natives have been ruled out, who, through their ideology and religion, created great shows, having a close relationship between rite, entertainment and teaching. The Mayan theatre was quite elaborate, it included large and colorful costumes, sometimes with zoomorphic features, masks, dolls like what we know today as puppets, drums and flutes music, songs, inter alia. However, we still have some indigenous theatre shows, which we will discover through this small tour of the Mayan theatre.eng
