Resumen
The dentistry clinics of Universidad El Bosque (UEB) have a teaching service attention model which means that patients are examined by students under teacher supervision, thus obtaining new patients may be complicated. It has been considered that the UEB community could be a source of patients due to ease of access and timeslot availability. Therefore an instrument was structured in order to characterize and determine what are the needs or expectations in dentistry of this community. The instrument was developed with Google Form and consists of 27 questions: 8 oriented at demographic characteristics, 5 to get to know its expectations and 14 for evaluating the service by those who have already attended. The instrument has not been validated yet so the aim of this study was to do so regarding reliability. It was sent via email from the dean’s office to the community – academics, administrative staff and students – of the school of psychology. The survey was answered by 28 persons: 82% academics, 18%administrative staff and no students. The responses had 86% women, age range between 25 years and 59 years and 100% are present in the university during the day shift. The service has been used by 15 persons (53.6%) only and only 13 received some kind of treatment. Those who attended state that the experience was good, integrally organized and with good specialists; however, 75% say that the treatment duration was too long. The predominant reason for attendance was a general check-up; however, aesthetics and pain were also reported. The most sought treatment is general dentistry (61%) and 75% of those surveyed expects an integral service, with good specialists, up-to-date technology and high quality; 68% of responders state they would attend or continue attending with confidence the clinical service offered by the university.
