Philosophy of the social sciences has traditionally occupied a secondary role within the philosophy of science. However, this situation has changed in recent decades. Given the above, in this article I show the development of a philosophy of social sciences motivated by both the philosophy of science and the social sciences. Three are the main ideas developed in this paper: 1) there is a connection between the philosophy of the social sciences and the philosophy of science; 2) this connection is explained from the recent transformations in the philosophy of science and 3) this connection offers new approaches to understanding the social reality and the practice of the social sciences.eng
