Chronic pain is defined by the IASP (International Association for the Study of Pain) as pain that persists for more than three months. It is a public health problem with an estimated global prevalence in adults of 11-40%, it is a frequent cause of consultation to emergency services, its detection and management leads to high costs in the health system and the resulting work disabilities generate a significant economic loss worldwide, approximately $560 billion annually in the United States. In Latin America, there are different studies on the prevalence of chronic pain in the general population. In Colombia, the Colombian Association for the Study of Pain (ACED) conducted a survey in 2014 on the prevalence of chronic pain in Colombia, finding that 47% of the people surveyed suffered from chronic pain, 64.5% of the causes. of pain were related to the musculoskeletal system.  Musculoskeletal disorders are common in various occupations and in developed countries they account for 40% of work-related injuries and are the most common cause of disability and absenteeism in developing countries. In health workers, musculoskeletal disorders associated with work activity have been widely studied in nurses and operating room staff and their prevalence is high. Its multiple causes have also been described in different studies. However, the prevalence of chronic pain in surgical room personnel in Colombia and the perception of the possible impact on different personal dimensions and on the performance of their daily tasks are unknown. The main objective of this study is to estimate the frequency of chronic pain in personnel working in surgery rooms at the SantaFé Foundation in Bogotá. The data from this cross-sectional observational study will be obtained by carrying out an online survey where the different anatomical locations of pain will be identified and a subjective evaluation will be carried out on the potential impact generated by chronic pain and the perception of affectation in quality of life, ambulation, mood, sleep pattern, work performance, social and sexual life, secondary work disabilities, medical care and management received by operating room staff.
