The assessment of nutritional status in patients with chronic conditions such as cancer has become vitally important in both the management and outcome of the disease. Knowing the baseline nutritional status and total body composition can allow for early and timely interventions that lead to better clinical outcomes. Intervening to reduce treatment-associated complications and possibly impact disease-inherent complications such as deconditioning and clinical syndromes like sarcopenia can reduce complications and improve patient's quality of life. New methods of analyzing patients' nutritional status have enabled the detection of muscle mass loss through non-invasive procedures, and sarcopenia has been associated with worse clinical outcomes in other clinical scenarios. To determine the relationship between sarcopenia and postoperative outcomes in patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis undergoing cytoreductive surgery plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS + HIPEC) at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá between 2010 and 2022.
