Eutanasia en pacientes psiquiátricos: ¿un dilema bioético para los profesionales de la salud y el estado colombiano?

El siguiente estudio exploratorio descriptivo tiene como objetivo analizar la viabilidad de la eutanasia en pacientes psiquiátricos desde una perspectiva bioética. Se enfatizará en el principio de autonomía y cómo este se relaciona con la dignidad humana. Además, se empleará el enfoque utilitarista de Peter Singer y se mencionarán otros pensadores relevantes y sus contribuciones según sea pertinente en el contexto. Se hará referencia a las normativas colombianas que han llevado a la inclusión del concepto de eutanasia en la constitución, con énfasis en la Sentencia C-233 emitida por la Corte Constitucional de Colombia en 2021. También se abordarán conceptos adicionales con relación a principios bioéticos que enriquecerán el análisis. Se contará con una encuesta realizada a residentes de psiquiatría y estudiantes de bioética que permitirá nutrir la construcción del ensayo; y a través de la presentación de un caso, se explorará la concientización del paciente, sus diagnósticos y posibles desenlaces. Finalmente, se plantearán recomendaciones basadas en los desafíos más destacados identificados, considerando no solo la perspectiva del personal de salud, sino también la de todos los involucrados en el proceso.

Abstract
The following descriptive exploratory study aims to analyze the feasibility of euthanasia in psychiatric patients from a bioethical perspective. Emphasis will be placed on the principle of autonomy and how it relates to human dignity. In addition, Peter Singer's utilitarian approach will be employed and other relevant thinkers and their contributions will be mentioned as pertinent in the context. Reference will be made to the Colombian regulations that have led to the inclusion of the concept of euthanasia in the constitution, with emphasis on Sentence C-233 issued by the Constitutional Court of Colombia in 2021. Additional concepts will also be addressed in relation to bioethical principles that will enrich the analysis. There will be a survey carried out on psychiatry residents and bioethics students that will feed the construction of the essay; and through the presentation of a case, the awareness of the patient, the diagnosis and possible outcomes of it will be explored. Finally, recommendations will be made based on the most outstanding challenges identified, considering not only the perspective of health personnel, but also that of all those involved in the process.
