This highlighted the need to test its adoption by dental school in the Latin American region. Aim: To construct an implementation plan for LCCT with each participating dental school in the Latin American region. Methodology: This mixed-method convergent study (simultaneous quantitative and qualitative) is part of the macro project ‘Regional Implementation of LCCT’; it has ethical approval (UEB) and informed consent from the eight invited universities (U. de los Andes, Chile; U. Autónoma de San Luis de Potosí, Mexico; U. de Buenos Aires, Argentina; U. Católica del Uruguay; UEB, Colombia; U. Iberoamericana, Dominican Republic; U. Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina; U. de Talca, Chile). It is based on Implementation Science, integrating as conceptual frameworks: EPIS (Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, Sustainability) and COM-B (Capability, Opportunity, Motivation-Behavior), to develop its specific objectives in four chapters concerning Cariology teaching: 1. Academic/administrative context - semi-structured self-administered survey and focus group; 2. Level of development of main and specific competencies according to LCCT and based on COM-B - structured self-administered survey; 3. Joint development of LCCT implementation plan, considering human talent, curriculum, resources, and infrastructure - workshop and focus group; and 4. Identification of initial barriers and facilitators - focus group. The data is expressed descriptively and/or with descriptive statistics. Results: The eight universities successfully achieved the general and specific objectives of this study, in line with their particular characteristics - related to academic/administrative context, type of public/private university, and the baseline advancement in Cariology teaching. Conclusion: This project successfully began in eight universities in the region, adopting the Latin American Spanish Consensus on Cariology Teaching for Undergraduate Students, contributing to its sustainability as well as its expansion to other countries.
