| dc.description.abstract | Un ensayo breve dedicado a las reflexiones bioéticas más acuciantes, necesariamente debe tener en cuenta que la ciencia sin una filosofía, sin un sentido, no cumple su función prístina, que es la de contribuir al desarrollo intelectual y espiritual del ser humano, un espacio en el que la epistemología, como principio y fin del conocimiento, es indiscutible. A sabiendas de que no todo lo que es técnicamente posible es moralmente válido, al evaluar el objetivo final de la ciencia no podemos desconocer sus límites, que están dados por el rigor de sus métodos y la posibilidad de que, más que acercarnos a la verdad, ella nos aleje del error. La confianza en la ciencia surgirá, entonces, de su apego a la transparencia y la veracidad, lo que implica un alejamiento deliberado de las imposturas. De otro lado, si la bioética es considerada una ética para la vida, y en la vida no todos comparten los mismos valores y creencias, esta nueva disciplina, construida para ayudar a resolver los dilemas morales que se derivan de la aplicación de la ciencia y la tecnología contemporáneas, ella debe ser capaz también de acercar a quienes tienen concepciones ideológicas diferentes. Finalmente, los conflictos al principio de la existencia, subordinados muchas veces a los procedimientos de reproducción asistida y manipulación genética, nos advierten sobre la importancia y la necesidad de contar con comités de bioética para que no se repitan los abusos que se cometieron en el siglo XX a propósito de la investigación con seres humanos. | spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | A short essay dedicated to the most pressing bioethical reflections, must necessarily take into account that science without a philosophy, without a meaning, does not fulfill its pristine function, which is to contribute to the intellectual and spiritual development of the human being, a space in that epistemology, as the beginning and end of knowledge, is indisputable. Knowing that not everything that is technically possible is morally valid, when evaluating the final objective of science we cannot ignore its limits, which are given by the rigor of its methods and the possibility that, rather than approaching the truth, she keeps us from error. Trust in science will emerge, then, from its attachment to transparency and truthfulness, which implies a deliberate departure from impostures. On the other hand, if bioethics is considered an ethic for life, and in life not everyone shares the same values and beliefs, this new discipline, built to help resolve the moral dilemmas that arise from the application of science and contemporary technology, it must also be able to bring together those with different ideological conceptions. Finally, the conflicts at the beginning of life, often subordinated to assisted reproduction and genetic manipulation procedures, warn us about the importance and the need to have bioethics committees so that the abuses that were committed in the century are not repeated.
