dc.description.abstractDe manera atávica, los biólogos trabajan en laboratorios, hacen trabajo de campo, se especializan en plantas o en insectos, por ejemplo, y ampliamente, hacen ciencia experimental y aplicada. En Colombia y en el mundo hay muy pocos biólogos teóricos y teóricos de la biología; por ejemplo, filósofos de la biología, o biólogos que trabajen en torno a diversas cuestiones de orden teórico y metateórico tales como el origen y la naturaleza de la vida, las relaciones entre naturaleza y cultura, los vínculos entre vida natural y vida artificial. Este libro recoge trabajos de profesores e investigadores de Francia, Brasil, Argentina, Chile y Colombia, con un propósito distintivo: el avance en la biología teórica desde diversas aristas. No existe un libro semejante en español, con tal variedad y profundidad de temas, análisis y reflexiones, todos, con un sólido estado del arte. La apuesta de los editores es esta: la Biología ha de ser entendida como la base material para la comprensión de la naturaleza, la sociedad, el mundo y los seres humanos.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishIn an atavistic way, biologists work in laboratories, do field work, specialize in plants or insects, for example, and extensively do experimental and applied science. In Colombia and in the world, there are very few theoretical biologists and theorists of biology; for example, philosophers of biology, or biologists working around various theoretical and meta-theoretical questions such as the origin and nature of life, the relationships between nature and culture, the links between natural life and artificial life. This book collects works of professors and researchers from France, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia, with a distinctive purpose: the advance in theoretical biology from different angles. There is no such book in Spanish, with such a variety and depth of topics, analysis and reflections, all with a solid state of the art. The editors’ bet is this: Biology has to be understood as the material basis for the understanding of nature, society, the world and human beings.eng
