La relevancia de la reconstrucción modelo-teórica para la interpretación de la química cuántica

Resumen
En el presente trabajo se analizan las reconstrucciones estructuralistas de la mecánica cuántica que suministra Hettema (2012) a la luz del problema de la reducción de la química a la mecánica cuántica a través de la química cuántica. La meta consiste en mostrar que, esas reconstrucciones operan como un contraargumento a la posición reduccionista ya que, en realidad, no reconstruyen toda la mecánica cuántica, sino una mecánica cuántica “modificada” para los fines de la química. Finalmente subrayo el papel que esta reconstrucción de la mecánica cuántica juega en las discusiones acerca de los vínculos interteóricos entre química y física.

Abstract
In the present work, I analyze the structuralist reconstructions of Quantum Mechanics that Hettema provides in the light of the problem of the reduction of Chemistry to quantum mechanics through Quantum Chemistry. The goal is to show that those reconstructions operate as a counter-argument to the reductionist position since, actually, they do not reconstruct all quantum mechanics, but a “modified” quantum mechanics for the purposes of Chemistry. Finally, I highlight the role that this reconstruction of Quantum Mechanics plays in the discussions about the inter-theoretical links between Chemistry and Physics.
