Abstract
In this work, the physical and chemical properties and the different substances are presented, through a matrix, the objective of establishing a bibliographic revision. In recent years, the need has arisen to look for new options to produce electricity, without compromising the natural resources available on the planet, which is why in this review it is shown in the operation of the fuel cell, the types of the cell and the variety of substances that can be used to transform chemical energy into electricity. In the present bibliographic review, the history and status of the fuel cells were researched, identifying the substances and the parameters that condition their use to carry out the oxide-reduction process and generate electrical energy.
