This thesis analyzes the implementation of integrative medicine (IM) education in medical training worldwide. A systematic literature review was conducted using major databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Embase), including qualitative and quantitative studies and reviews that described educational experiences in IM. A bibliometric analysis was applied to 26 selected articles, assessing authors, countries, keywords, and editorial characteristics. Teaching methodologies, curricular content, and reported challenges were also synthesized. The results show a growing inclusion of IM in medical education, with authors such as Victoria Maizes and Patricia Lebensohn being the most prolific and frequently cited. Reviewed programs include content on complementary therapies, communication skills, and critical appraisal of evidence. Major challenges identified include lack of faculty experience in IM, skepticism from established professionals, and limited curricular time. The study concludes that although IM provides a holistic, patient-centered approach, its full integration requires overcoming institutional barriers and implementing effective educational strategies.
