This scoping review describes the current literature on the possible relationship between psychological resilience and cognitive flexibility as protective factors of mental health in the adolescent population and identifies gaps in the research. The background on the topic reveals that psychological resilience and cognitive flexibility are protective factors in adolescent mental health, and the relationship between both variables is a recent finding. This scoping review follows the guidelines of Arksey and O'Malley (2005) being a descriptive study. There were 44 studies chosen for the final analysis, of which only 2 analyzed the relationship between the variables under study, showing that adolescents with high cognitive flexibility and psychological resilience have better school adjustment and fewer emotional problems, by mediating or moderating the impact of stressful life events. Likewise, executive functions (cognitive flexibility) predict psychological resilience. It is concluded that there is an empirical and methodological gap in addressing the relationships between these variables, which suggests that more research should be conducted on the subject.
