Experiencias de los profesionales de enfermería durante los cuidados paliativos en el entorno intrahospitalario: un estudio cualitativo en Bogotá

dc.description.abstractA través de una revisión de literatura, se encontró que existe poca información sobre las experiencias de los profesionales de enfermería cuando brindan atención en cuidados paliativos en el contexto Latinoamericano; se cuenta con avances significativos en políticas públicas al respecto, algunos escenarios están más organizados, se nota mayor formación e interés en el tema, pero siguen existiendo barreras a la hora de brindar estos cuidados en la práctica. Al hablar con algunos colegas manifiestan muchos sucesos, vivencias y anécdotas que nadie ha documentado recientemente en el contexto colombiano. Por tanto, se desarrolló un estudio con el fin de describir las experiencias del cuidado de los profesionales de enfermería ante la muerte de un paciente en cuidados paliativos al final de la vida, durante sus labores en el entorno hospitalario de la ciudad de Bogotá. La metodología del estudio es cualitativa desde un paradigma fenomenológico, con enfoque de análisis de contenido; se realizaron 13 entrevistas semiestructuradas a los participantes a través de la técnica “bola de nieve”, teniendo en cuenta unos criterios de inclusión y exclusión; dichas entrevistas fueron transcritas, analizadas y discutidas a través del software denominado MAXQDA, se identificaron 3 categorías denominadas: contextos laborales, experiencia de brindar cuidados paliativos y experiencias sobre la vida y la muerte; se concluye que, los enfermeros paliativistas enfrentan la dualidad de la vida y la muerte con compasión, profesionalismo y dedicación, su labor es fundamental para garantizar que los pacientes y sus familias transiten este proceso con dignidad y cuidado.
dc.description.abstractenglishThrough a literature review, it was found that there is little information about the experiences of nursing professionals when they provide palliative care care in the Latin American context; There is significant progress in public policies in this regard, some scenarios are more organized, there is greater training and interest in the subject, but there are still barriers when it comes to providing this care in practice. When speaking with some colleagues, they share many events, experiences and anecdotes that no one has documented recently in the Colombian context. Therefore, a study was developed to describe the care experiences of nursing professionals in the face of the death of a patient in palliative care at the end of life, during their work in the hospital environment of the city of Bogotá. The methodology of the study is qualitative from a phenomenological paradigm, with a content analysis approach; 13 semi-structured interviews were carried out with the participants through the “snowball” technique, taking into account inclusion and exclusion criteria; These interviews were transcribed, analyzed and discussed through the software called MAXQDA, 3 categories were identified: work contexts, experience of providing palliative care and experiences about life and death; It is concluded that palliative nurses face the duality of life and death with compassion, professionalism and dedication, their work is essential to guarantee that patients and their families go through this process with dignity and care.
