dc.description.abstractEste estudio describe la configuración y cambio de las redes que se constituyen alrededor de la atención y el cuidado de pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2), junto con la importancia que tienen estas en el manejo de las enfermedades crónicas. Recurriendo a la Teoría Actor-Red (TAR), se formulan explicaciones que resaltan elementos que se dejan de lado en las comprensiones más tradicionales de la DM2, y se resalta la importancia de contemplar, dentro del enfoque biomédico, no solo los tratamientos y las dietas efectivas para disminuir los niveles de glucosa en sangre, sino los contextos sociales, culturales y materiales de las personas con enfermedades crónicas, con el fin de emplear estrategias pertinentes que contribuyan a disminuir las barreras de acceso a tratamientos efectivos. Se realizaron cinco entrevistas semiestructuradas a personas con diagnóstico de DM2, las cuales participaron en el estudio de forma voluntaria. Posteriormente, se realizó el análisis de las redes sociotécnicas de los participantes desde la TAR, y se encontró que las redes de estas personas están conformadas por una variedad de actores humanos y no humanos, que interactúan de maneras diversas, construyendo dinámicas alrededor de la enfermedad y su tratamiento. Se pudo identificar que estas dinámicas no dependen de un actor en particular, sino de la configuración que puede tener la red en un momento determinado; ello permitió reconocer que cada actor puede asumir un rol dominante sin establecer ninguna jerarquía al interior de la red, lo que a su vez puede significar seguir o no el tratamiento convencional o buscar opciones que se ajusten más a la dinámica de su red.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThis study describes the configuration and change of the networks that are related with the attention and care of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), as well as the importance that these networks have in the handling of chronic diseases. Using the Actor-Network Theory (ANT), explanations are formulated that highlight elements that are left aside in the more traditional understandings of DM2, and the importance of contemplating, within the biomedical approach, not only the treatments and the effective diets to lower blood glucose levels, but rather the social, cultural and material contexts of people with chronic diseases, in order to employ relevant strategies that help reduce barriers to access to effective treatments. Five semi-structured interviews were conducted with people with a diagnosis of T2D, who participated in the study on a voluntary basis. Subsequently, the analysis of the sociotechnical networks of the participants was carried out from the ANT, and it was found that the networks of these people are made up of a variety of human and non-human actors, who interact in different ways, building dynamics around the disease and its treatment. It was possible to identify that these dynamics do not depend on a particular actor, but on the configuration that the network may have at a given moment; This allowed us to recognize that each actor can assume a dominant role without establishing any hierarchy within the network, which in turn may mean following or not the conventional treatment or seeking options that are more in line with the dynamics of their network.eng
