We conducted a scoping review to explore the postoperative emotional state in adults undergoing brain tumor resection with either general anesthesia or awake craniotomy. We analyzed 23 articles published between 2010 and 2024. The evidence was heterogeneous, with few direct comparisons. Most studies focused on awake craniotomy and examined emotions such as anxiety, depression, and stress. We recommend standardization and the use of mixed-methods studies.
