dc.description.abstractEl musical Heathers es una comedia oscura situada en una escuela, específicamente en Westerberg High School. La historia transcurre a través de la protagonista, Verónica Sawyer, una chica inteligente pero sin popularidad, que es admitida en el grupo de las más populares, las Heathers. La obra muestra el día a día de una escuela, el ambiente hostil, el bullying y las consecuencias de querer encajar sin importar los límites. Heather Chandler es la abeja reina de la escuela; junto a sus dos cómplices, hace que su palabra se cumpla. Su fuerza y necesidad por mantener el control la llevan a ser asesinada. Al trascender, su fantasma se encarga de atormentar, guiar y aconsejar a Veronica Sawyer. Durante nuestra carrera como estudiantes de Arte Dramático se nos han enseñado diferentes técnicas que son un apoyo al momento de enfrentar un personaje o una escena. Meyerhold y su biomecánica es una de las que más resonó en nosotros, y al querer indagar más sobre su propuesta teatral encontramos que gran parte de su exploración fue dejar a un lado el teatro occidental y buscar respuestas en teatros, culturas y rituales orientales. Por esta razón, siguiendo un poco los pasos de Meyerhold, decidimos poner nuestros ojos en el Kecak, su naturaleza ritual, y su necesidad por crear y desarrollarse en colectivo. Nos pareció que brinda herramientas como la escucha, el entendimiento de la energía, el ritmo y un gran abanico de potencias vocales para la exploración del actor en formación. Es un lugar de indagación distinto que nos permite conectarnos desde un punto primitivo. Además, nos ayuda a comprender la idea de estar vivos en escena.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe musical Heathers is a dark comedy set in a school, specifically Westerberg High School. The story takes place through the protagonist, Veronica Sawyer, a smart but unpopular girl, who is admitted into the most popular group, the Heathers. The play shows the day-to-day life of a school, the hostile environment, bullying and the consequences of wanting to fit in regardless of the limits. Heather Chandler is the queen bee of the school; together with her two accomplices, she makes her word come true. Her strength and need to maintain control lead her to be killed. As she transcends, her ghost takes it upon herself to haunt, guide and counsel Veronica Sawyer. During our journey as theater students, we have been taught different techniques that serve as support when facing a character or a scene. Meyerhold and his biomechanic are one of those that resonated with us the most. Seeking to delve deeper into his tecnics and proposals, we found a significant part of his exploration involved setting aside western theater and looking for answers in Eastern theaters, cultures, and rituals. For this reason, following in Meyerhold's footsteps, we decided to turn our attention to Kecak, its ritual nature, its need for collective creation and development. We found this dance provides tools such as listening, understanding the concept of energy, rhythm, and a wide vocal and auditory range for the exploration of the actor in training. It's a different place of inquiry that allows us to connect from a primal point of view. It helps us understand the idea of being alive on stage.
