dc.description.abstractenglish | Using the Kempes-Krakauer Model of Life as a base and expanding it with an idea inspired by the "deconstruction of crabbiness" by carcinologist Gerhard Scholtz, I extrapolated from evolutionary biology a model that accounts for homoplasies through an interaction between four levels of life: materials, constraints, optimization, and interpretation. In light of this model, we interpret structural similarities when structures develop from similar resources, constraints, and pressures. I argue that the hypothesis of homoplasy as a methodological principle of history enriches the narratives of the development of technoscience and does more justice to cases of simultaneous discoveries.
