Esta investigación se basa en la importancia del ejercicio de la traducción y su influencia con el arte dramático y escénico; se realizó un proyecto teórico/práctico donde se indagó acerca de conceptos como la traductología y su relación con el teatro, pero también realizo la traducción de dos textos, el primero es una obra musical llamada Violet, escrita por el libretista Brian Crawley, y en segundo lugar se tradujo los cuatro primeros capítulos del libro “The Viewpoints” escrito por la directora Anne Bogart y la dramaturga Tina Landau. En el documento hay dos enlaces de drive que los llevarán a mis traducciones y adicionalmente al final del documento pueden encontrar el enlace del video/monólogo del montaje de grado de octavo semestre en el énfasis de teatro musical.
Regresando a la investigación, mi trabajo se fundamentó en autores que resaltaran la importancia del lenguaje, el intercambio del conocimiento y el bilingüismo, tales como el célebre psicólogo ruso Lev Vygotski. De igual manera, investigué autores con una opinión muy concreta acerca del ejercicio de la traducción como lo es Pamela Faber, una lingüista hispano-estadounidense, quien por medio sus escritos ha explicado los distintos tipos de traducción que existen, los cuales puse en práctica para realizar mi propia traducción.
Realizar una traducción no es simplemente una transcripción. No basta con dominar dos idiomas para poder realizarla, hay que tener en cuenta el aspecto legal ya que para utilizar un contenido ajeno, primero se tiene que indagar acerca de las leyes de copyright (derechos de autor), tanto en Colombia como Estados Unidos, y obtener los permisos respectivos para utilizar el material y realizar la traducción de este. Por esta razón adjunté dos añexos los cuales muestran el estado de mis traducciones con respecto a la ley de los derechos de autor. En el añexo 1 se muestra un correo de la compañía MTI el cual me concede el permiso de traducción de la obra Violet, y finalmente el añexo 2 contiene un correo solicitando el permiso a la editorial Theatre Communications Group, Inc, para poder traducir el segundo texto. Este es un proyecto que implicó una labor de gestión, además pude poner en práctica mis conocimientos acerca del arte dramático, el teatro musical y un segundo idioma.

Abstract
This investigations is based on the importance of translation and its influence with dramatic and scenic arts; I did a theoretical/practical project which made me search for concepts such as traductology and its relation with theatre, but I also translated of two texts, the first one is a musical play called Violet, written by the librettist Brian Crawley, secondly I translated the first four chapters of The Viewpoints Book, written by the director Anne Bogart and the dramatist Tina Landau. In the attached document, there are two links that will take you to my translations and additionally, at the end you can find the link of a monologue/video which corresponds to my eight semester musical theatre graduation performance.
Back to the investigation, my work took authors that emphasized the importance of language, exchange of knowledge and bilingualism, like the Russian Psychologist Lev Vygotski. In the same way, I researched authors with a specific opinion on the practice of translation such as Pamela Faber, an Hispanic-American linguist, who has explained, in her essays, the different types of translation, the same ones I used for my own translation.
Translating is not the same as transcribe. It’s not enough to master two languages to be able to translate. You have to acknowledge the legal aspect of it due to the fact that when you use other people’s work (content), first you had to research about copyright laws in Colombia and the USA, and get the permission to use it and translate it. As a consequence, there are two attached documents that show my translation’s copyright status. In the first document you can find an email from the MTI Company that grans me permission to translate the play Violet, finally, in the second one, there’s an email where I make the request to translate the second text to the Theatre Communications Group, Inc. editorial. This project force me to do a management work, and it made me put in practice all the knowledge I’ve learned on dramatic arts, musical theatre and a second language.
