Abstract

The land has been fundamental for years for the preservation of the human being, it allows the development of the rights and freedoms of every individual, it is also a source of wealth and power. However, the vision of the land has been varied depending on the community and the passage of time. This is the case of indigenous communities, who see the land in a completely different way from a modern and western vision. This vision manifests the life of the indigenous peoples who throughout time have claimed, in a constant struggle from what time of the colony until today, to Earth as part of their identity. This confrontation of visions of the land, leaves the communities a second plane in the decision making in the use of the subsoil or the occupation of the territory, therefore the indigenous peoples see the need to demonstrate and mobilize in order to protect what they consider mother Earth. During the period 2010 and 2014, these mobilizations occurred in the department of Cauca, a territory that has been marginalized by the State and which houses a considerable number of indigenous populations who are struggling for a dignified life and for the strengthening of the identity of their peoples.
