Abstract

Introduction: The increase in suicide rates has led to an increasing interest in identifying risk factors associated with suicidal behavior, with preventive purposes. Despite posing multiple prevention and treatment strategies, the problem has remained a very important public health issue. It is considered that one of the reasons for the persistence of this problem is that only the risk factors contributed by different quantitative studies have been given importance. This can lead to the risk of reducing the problem of suicide attempt to a more descriptive level, without addressing a more complex understanding. Hence the need for studies that focus on the individual as an active social actor. Objective: To determine the perception of the different social actors in front of the patient's attention with suicide attempt, during 2018 at the Montserrat Clinic in Bogotá. Materials and methods: Qualitative study developed through the Multiple Item Classification (CMI), in order to understand the conceptual system of the people interviewed, when they interact with some items (images and / or words) about the suicide attempt. To achieve the above, semi-structured individual interviews were conducted. For its data analysis, the Nvivo 12 Plus program was used. Results: A sample of 15 individuals was collected: general service personnel (2), security personnel (2), nursing (4), resident doctors (5) and psychiatrists (2). Discussion: The perceptions of the majority of the participants were diverse, which hinders the division of the illustrations and their subsequent analysis. In spite of the above, the predominant role of the family in the care process was observed for all the participants, as well as the appearance of diverse voices in front of their own experiences in relation to the subject in question.
