    Intervenciones médicas en neurotrauma pediátrico: Una síntesis realista

    Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has a high incidence y pediatric population, and represents one of the main causes of disability and mortality. Actually, there is a lack of evidence available about the approach of this disease; that represents a limitation in the management and outcome. The interventions to discuss are: Volumetric reanimation, hyperosmolar therapy and deep sedation Objectives: Apply a realist synthesis about the three of the medical interventions, that are often used in pediatric traumatic brain injury Methods: Application of a realist synthesis, through a narrative review and the implementation of expert consensus applying Delphi method. Results: The approach of pediatric traumatic brain injury in Latin America is quite heterogeneous, that correlates with the lack of evidence available. Nevertheless, there is a consensus in some of the parameters that are consistent with the actual clinical guidelines. Conclusions: Nowadays, there is a notorious lack of evidence in the medical management of pediatric traumatic brain injury, for this reason, is imperative to apply methods like realist synthesis, that allows improve the gaps in the evidence, and in the future allows the creation of standardized protocols in Latin America
