Results: The results obtained in this study are correlated with other international studies conducted in Chile, Mexico, Brazil and other studies already carried out in Colombia. Verify that the cesarean section rate is not uniform and the specification of the degree of development and resources, in addition to the maternal age, correlates with the high socioeconomic level of the pregnant woman, nulliparity, institution of private versus public character. The results of this study facilitate the understanding of the socioeconomic context associated with caesarean cases in our country, which contributes to health decisions aimed at reducing the rate. For this reason, an analytical study that considers the association between the caesarean section rate and the sociodemographic characteristics of pregnant women is justified.
