The objective of this research was to understand the meanings built by a lactating mother from the municipality of
Cajicá about social support in the experience of breastfeeding. For which the qualitative research paradigm and the in-
depth interview were chosen, since it allows the understanding of the experiential experiences, the perception of the
world and of the realities that are obviated, and with the purpose of analyzing the results the theory was used based
where open, axial and selective coding is contemplated. In the meanings constructed by the co-investigator, the role
of her partner excels, which provided her with expressive and instrumental support during her breastfeeding
experience. His other supports were found at specific moments of the experience. Likewise, spirituality emerged as a
crucial dimension in this woman's history of breastfeeding.
