Resumen
Desde el año 2020, con la llegada de la pandemia producida por el virus COVID-19, el uso de la telemedicina se incrementó exponencialmente, lo que eventualmente reveló al personal de salud el uso de esta modalidad como una herramienta o alternativa favorable de cara a los obstáculos de acceso a la atención médica y frente a dificultades de movilidad o independencia especialmente entre la población geriátrica. En vista de los beneficios de la telemedicina, se plantea su posible aplicabilidad como método sencillo para la anamnesis, diagnóstico, monitoreo e intervención del paciente geriátrico, tomando como punto de partida el interrogante ¿Qué pasaría si la implementación de las tecnologías de la información y las telecomunicaciones (TIC) favorecieran el acceso a salud de calidad de los pacientes del último ciclo vital, facilitando así la interacción del usuario y su familia con el personal de la salud? Es entonces, en este contexto, que la telemedicina se convierte en un potencial amparo del sistema de salud por su respuesta sostenible para enfrentar los obstáculos que conlleva la vulnerabilidad de la población anciana y su integración familiar y social.

Abstract
Since 2020, with the arrival of the pandemic produced by the COVID-19 virus, the use of telemedicine has increased exponentially, which eventually revealed to health personnel the use of this modality as a favorable tool or alternative in the face of obstacles to access medical care and in the face of mobility or independence difficulties, especially among the geriatric population. In view of the benefits of telemedicine, its possible applicability as a simple method for the anamnesis, diagnosis, monitoring and intervention of the geriatric patient is proposed, taking as a starting point the question: What would happen if the implementation of information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) favored access to quality health care for patients in the last life cycle, thus facilitating the interaction of the user and his family with the health personnel? It is in this context, then, that telemedicine becomes a potential support for the health care system because of its sustainable response to face the obstacles that come with the vulnerability of the elderly population and their family and social integration.
