Resumen
Esta tesis doctoral tiene como finalidad investigar y desarrollar la anticipación de sentido construida en base a la revisión de la literatura y el marco teórico de la Ética Convergente respondiendo a la pregunta ¿Cómo se caracterizan las tensiones éticas y bioéticas que emergen durante las prácticas odontológicas entre los estudiantes y los pacientes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Central del Ecuador (FOUCE)? La tesista abordó esta pregunta que surgió para dar respuesta y comprender las situaciones conflictivas que surgen entre el estudiante y el paciente que acude al servicio de odontología de la Facultad. La odontología como profesión del área de la salud tiene que ver con la vida, el bienestar y el sufrimiento del ser humano, durante la atención odontológica, se evidencian necesidades de salud del paciente que el estudiante debe resolver y también comprender las situaciones sociales, humanas y éticas que den prioridad al paciente como eje central de la atención clínica, sin embargo, históricamente, la formación odontológica universitaria ha valorado los aspectos técnicos y científicos que pueden suscitar tensiones éticas y bioéticas entre el estudiante y el paciente al priorizar una atención que no beneficia al paciente y puede deshumanizar al estudiante

Abstract
The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to investigate and develop the anticipation of meaning built on the basis of the literature review and the theoretical framework of Convergent Ethics by answering the question: How are the ethical and bioethical tensions that emerge during dental practices between students and patients at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Central University of Ecuador (FOUCE) characterized? The thesis student addressed this question that arose to answer and understand the conflictive situations that arise between the student and the patient who comes to the dental service of the Faculty. Dentistry as a health profession has to do with the life, wellbeing and suffering of human beings. During dental care, the health needs of the patient are evident, which the student must resolve and also understand the social, human and ethical situations that give priority to the patient as the central axis of clinical care; however, historically, university dental training has valued the technical and scientific aspects that can cause ethical and bioethical tensions between the student and the patient by prioritizing care that does not benefit the patient and can dehumanize the student.
