A partir del diálogo bioética-género, se realizó una investigación cualitativa, con el propósito de relacionar significados que del cuerpo y el ejercicio de la autonomía tienen mujeres embarazadas y profesionales de salud (odontólogos/as, médicos/as y enfermeras/os). Se realizaron 9 grupos focales (GF) y 19 entrevistas semiestructuradas, 9 a mujeres gestantes (MG) y 10 a profesionales de la salud (PsS) que las atienden en los hospitales de Suba, Engativá y Usaquén de la red Norte de la Secretaría Distrital de Salud de Bogotá1 entre 2010 y 2012.
El análisis mediante una perspectiva en paralelo mostró encuentros y desencuentros de dos mundos diferentes el de las MG y el de los /las PsS entorno al significado de la maternidad, el cuerpo, la boca y el ejercicio de la autonomía durante la atención en salud.
Los hallazgos revelaron que el respeto a la autonomía de las MG durante la atención en salud está mediado por los significados que del cuerpo y la autonomía femenina tienen tanto las MG como los/las PsS que las atienden.

Abstract
A qualitative research was made starting from a dialogue between Bioethics and Gender with the purpose of relating the meanings that pregnant women and health professionals (female and male dentists, physicians and nurses) have about body and the exercise of autonomy. The methodology included 9 focal groups and 19 semi-structured interviews to 9 pregnant women, who were attending the maternity health program, as well as 10 health professionals from Suba, Engativa and Usaquen hospitals that are part of the Northern network of the local health secretary of Bogota between 2010 and 2012.
The analysis made by a parallel perspective, showed agreements and disagreements between two different worlds. On one hand the pregnant women’s and in the other, the health professionals’ in relation to meanings of maternity, the body, the mouth and the exercise of autonomy during the health attention.
The findings revealed that the respect for autonomy of pregnant women during the health attention is mediated by the meanings of body and female autonomy that both women and health professionals have.
